The chamber orchestra of Musical Theater “Orpheus” of A.G. Soldatov Palace of Culture introduces the program “Duo of brothers: Perm and Oxford”

This program is dedicated to the works of English composers.

During the concert the following works will be played: music for Shakespeare’s play “The Tempest” by Matthew Locke, “Chaconne” by Henry Purcell, famous “Serenade” by Edward Elgar, and “Simple Symphony” Benjamin Britten. Locke and Purcell are the representatives of the baroque epoch, whereas Elgar and Britten are the composers of the 20th century. The works by Elgar refers to post-romanticism, and the ones by Britten – to neo-classicism. The music of these composers is diverse, but they are the most famous and popular English composers.

This program was created by English conductor John Lubbock (Oxford, the founder and art director of orchestra of St. John’s) within the anniversary celebrations of twin cities Perm and Oxford. It was performed in organ hall in October, 2015.

By popular demand of listeners the chamber orchestra “Orpheus” will repeatedly perform it on the 24th of April at 18:00 in the small hall of Soldatov Palace of Culture.
