The delegation of the Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture visited the city of Agrigento

From May 14 till May 27, 2016 at the invitation of Italian party the students of the Ilya Glazunov Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture visited Sicily for traineeship.

This academic exchange was organized by Irina Kuleva, the coordinator of twinning relations between Perm and Agrigento, and Christian Vassallo, the coordinator of twinning relations with the city of Perm from the Italian party.

On the day of arrival of the delegation, a joint plein-air of the students of the Ilya Glazunov Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and the students of Michelangelo Academy of Fine Arts was organized. “The Spring” was chosen as the topic of this event. The Russian students made sketches of Agrigento landscapes, and the Italian students draw abstract paintings. Afterwards all these paintings were exhibited in the local museum. Alfredo Antonini Prado, Director of Michelangelo Academy of Fine Arts, held the banquet, during which Russian and Italian students had possibility to get to know each other closer.

During their stay on Sicily, the Perm students painted the walls of the hotel, where they lived, using the motives of local picturesque landscapes with a view of the sea, and also created a sculpture in marble “The Mermaid”. On weekend there were excursions to the cities of Sciacca and Palermo.
