Delegations of Twin Cities Celebrated the Perm Anniversary

Twin and partner cities of Perm personally celebrated the 290th anniversary of the Kama Capital and took part in the events of the City Day, which is traditionally celebrated on June 12th.

The week between June 9-16, 2013 turned out to be a very tight one as regards the events – and exactly this period was used for the visits of the delegations from Agrigento (Italy) presided by the Mayor Marco Zambuto, Amnéville(France) presided by the Deputy Mayor Stephane Hirtz Gianesini, Duisburg (Germany) presided by the Deputy Mayor BennoLensdorf,Oxford (Great Britain) presided by Mary Clarkson, Deputy at the Oxford City Council, Ex-Lord Mayor,and Qingdao (China) presided by Li Xu Ming, Deputy Head at the Office of Foreign Affairs of the Peoples’ Government. Besides, Perm was officially visited by the representatives of the City of Wuhan (China) presided by Shi Dahong, Vice-President of the Permanent Committee of Wuhan at the Peoples’ Political Consultative Council of China.

On June 11th, high-rank guests were welcomed by Igor Sapko, Head ofthe City of Perm – Chairman ofthe Perm City Duma, whereas the next day started exactly at midnight for the delegations of twin cities, when the first event of the City Daywas held in the garden beside the Monument of Vasily Tatischev, Founder of Perm. Moreover, foreign representatives visited the Carnival March as well as sites of the White Nights Festival, participated in the ceremony of manifold placement at the Alley of Courage and Fame and in the official reception in the name of the Head ofthe City of Perm – Chairman ofthe Perm City Dumaat the Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre. Late in the evening, they watched festive fireworks in front of the Soldatov Palace of Culture.

Besides, every delegation had individual events included in the programme. So, the Mayor of Agrigento opened the Festival “San Remo in Perm“ on June 12th, representatives of Amnéville met the administration of the Perm Zoo, whereas the delegation from Qingdao made a present in the form of a photo exhibition with views of Qingdao, which is going to be placed in the art residence, exhibition halls, schools, and libraries of Perm.

Next time, representatives of all the Perm twin and partner cities are going to come to the Kama Capital very soon: From September 17-23, 2013 the Festival of Twin Cities will be held here.

It is worth remembering that agreements on twin and partner relations have been signed between Perm and Amnéville (1992, France), Louisville (USA, 1994), Oxford (Great Britain, 1995), Qingdao (China, 2003), Duisburg (Germany, 2007), and Agrigento (Italy, 2012).
