Craftsmen from Duisburg participated in the Annual Blacksmith Festival “Svarog’s Furnace”, which took place on the 12-13th of June at the Perm esplanade. Participants of various European blacksmith festivals attracted attention of the audience, applying ancient methods and modern technologies.
German craftsmen visited our city not for the first time. RüdigerEichholz - a blacksmith, artistic craftsman, specialist in art-therapy – has been visiting Perm since 2009. More than 5 years he has been involved in organization of youth projects and artistic unions for twin cities - Duisburg and Perm.Rüdigermet Perm craftsmen at the International Festival “European Accents in Perm”. So cooperation between German and Perm blacksmiths started in the format of festivals and continues up to the present day.
Except guests from Germany, more than 60 blacksmiths from Russia, Belorussia and Ukraine demonstrated their skills.
This year the festival motto was “Time keepers”. The main art-object, created by masters –a construction representing a double-headed horse and a human, symbolizes protective function, bearing the stamp of time and memory of ancestors. Each participant of the festival placed on a metal frame their own homework – forged product with Perm zoomorphic ornament.
Interactive master classes took place on the ground, people of all ages and background could forge with their own hands something for luck.
