Students from Oxford will summer in Perm Krai for internship

Young people from Great Britain have come for summer internship to the Perm State National Research University (PSNRU) for already the fifth time. Oxford students are received by the Department of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geology.
26 foreign students came to PSNRU. At the Department of Physics, 15 people from the Oxford University will study the foundations of the theory of hydrodynamic stability and quantum electro-dynamics. Two chemists will join the Department of Natural and Biologically Active Compounds and will study at the seminars on chemistry of heterocyclic compounds. After theoretical and practical lessons, the physicists and chemists together with employees and lecturers of the University will enjoy ten-day rafting trip on Vishera River.
Five biologists will spend their summer in the laboratory of ecology and microbial genetics – they will study different aspects of microbiology, and then visit International Geo-ecological School. There, on training facility of PSNRU “Preduralye”, together with their colleagues from Italy, Great Britain, Poland, the students will diagnose the state of environment – obtain samples of soil, vegetation cover and study rare species of plants.
The Department of Geology together with four Oxonians went to the Republic of Khakassia, where they will geologize and search for gold-bearing materials.
For guests from Oxford the philologists of PSNRU give classes of Russian language, and each Saturday they together with the guides study the sights of the city and the Kama region. The students have already held friendly football match and are planning to visit the culinary studio, where they will be taught to cook Russian food. Oxonians will stay at PSNRU till August 20.
