England is closer than you think!
15.09.2016
This autumn the spirit of England will be brought to Perm and twin-city relations between Oxford and our city will become even stronger.
A festival «West Fest: Perm - Oxford» will take place in Perm from September to November.
A lineup of events that everyone can take part in is prepared for Perm residents and guests of the city.
Throughout the festival an event “We Read Shakespeare” will take place: famous figures and residents of the city will introduce you to the works of the great dramatist. After all, “Romeo and Juliet” and “Hamlet” are not the only works of Shakespeare.
In late September all England lovers can “visit” their favorite country by participating in the quest called “England in Perm”. All the interesting places of Perm that are somehow connected with the British culture, unusual tasks and adventures wilder than the adventures of Sherlock Holmes – all this waits for the participants of the quest. The winners will receive memorable gifts with the emblem of the festival.
The young lovers of England can participate in a quiz called "Experts in Oxfordshire" prepared by the organizers of the festival. Such topics as literature, history and cultural life of Oxford will be included in the questions of the quiz. School children of 8-11 grades can take part in the quiz by putting together a five-person team, submiting an application and sending it to west.fest@mail.ru.
On the 23 of November a closing event of the festival, a holiday «West Fest: Perm - Oxford», will take place in Perm State University. Have you ever dreamed of playing Royal Croquet with Hedgehog balls and Flamingo mallets or tasting butterbeer or pumpkin juice as Harry Potter and his friends? Very soon you will have an opportunity to do this! Come and dive into the atmosphere of England while staying in Perm!
